The top cover of my Cobra King F9 Speedback flew off after a pretty solid contact, 265 yd drive. I bought this club second hand and this is my 6th season owning it. I have a couple questions/concerns.

  1. There appears to be a resin-like substance that has settled at the bottom of the head. Is this a manufacturing issue? FYI, the clubs have always been stored indoors away from extreme heat and cold conditions.

  2. On the inside of the top cover there is numbers and letters that I can’t quite make out. I can’t find anything online that mentions cobra doing this. Is this common practice from Cobra? I am afraid I got a fake.

  3. This club is obviously many years out of warranty but has anyone had luck with Cobra offering replacement or credit towards newer driver models for broken clubs out of warranty?

Appreciate it!

    thoughts? lmao.

    trash. garbage. refuse. junk.

  3. I don’t know man. You could try with cobra but you’re talking about a used club that you’ve been hitting with a high swing speed for 6 years. Who knows what heat cycling it has seen in that time. I don’t think some squeeze out resin from the initial bond is to blame. Update us though, they might hook you up.

I would advise you to buy yourself a new driver. Facebook marketplace, Neighbor, etc. all have fairly decent and affordable options if you look around.

Ebay. buy a new head. Like $150 bucks.

  6. There’s no reason not to at least ask Cobra about it, but don’t get your hopes up. The sticky substance is in every club head. It’s supposed to catch things if they come loose so you don’t have anything rattling around in there.

You can try using some sort of glue to put it back together but it may not perform the same… and I wouldn’t get my hopes up with Cobra as it’s well past their warranty period.

Like Elsa said in Frozen. Time to let it go. If you bought it used and got six seasons out of it, you got your moneys worth. RIP driver. Give it a proper burial. Maybe pour some beer out for it, and then we move it. It’s sad, but it’s reality.

Done like dinner. Sorry for your loss 😞

Sorry that happened. It’s dead and it’s out of warranty.

  12. As someone else said, go to eBay. Find yourself a Cobra LTDx head of your loft choice for like $150. Unscrew the old head and screw the LTDx on. It’ll be an upgrade.
